Welcome
Life can be difficult and overwhelming at times, leaving you feeling lost and stuck in the present, or perhaps hopeless and anxious about what the future holds.
I’m PuiSum, a qualified counsellor, and I offer a supportive space for you to process your thoughts, experiences, and feelings. Together, we can explore your past and current challenges, helping you to find ways to create a more connected and fulfilling life.
I offer a free online consultation for you to meet with me and ask any questions you have about starting counselling. I look forward to hearing from you.
My Approach
Transpersonal and Integrative Approach: I am trained in Psychosynthesis, a transpersonal and integrative approach that sees you as more than your struggles. It helps you connect with your purpose and find meaning, acknowledging the importance of spiritual experience. It encourages you to welcome all parts of yourself, even the difficult ones, as they hold clues to your deepest needs. This process fosters a strong connection between your mind, body, and feelings, helping you be more connected and fulfilled.
Relational Approach: Together, we will explore what arises in the present moment and within our therapeutic relationship. I offer a space where you are held with empathy, care, and curiosity. I approach counselling as a collaborative process, respecting that each individual has different ways of processing and expressing themselves. There's no one-size-fits-all approach. I will work with you to find the best ways to support you on this journey.
Intersectional and Anti-Oppressive Approach: Counselling does not exist in a vacuum; it is situated within a larger network of systemic and structural inequalities. I hold awareness of how this influences our therapeutic dynamic. I am committed to providing a culturally attuned environment that does not centre on oppressive and colonial norms, such as Western psychological norms and heteronormativity. This includes providing a gender-affirming, ethical non-monogamy/polyamory-affirming, sex- and kink-positive space.
About me
I’m PuiSum (He/They), a POC transmasc qualified counsellor.
A registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and a member of Therapists Against Conversion Therapy and Transphobia (TACTT).
My goal is to offer a culturally sensitive and affirmative environment where you can explore your inner world and your relationships with yourself and others. Together, we can work towards creating a more fulfilling life.
I work with adults (aged 18 and above) on a one-to-one basis, offering sessions in both English and Cantonese.
I have experience offering short-term counselling sessions in LGBT+ charities such as Spectra and Elop.
Prior to becoming a qualified counsellor, I worked in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in the Higher Education and Private sectors. This background gives me a deep understanding of issues such as systemic barriers, burnout, and minority stress.
My Experiences
Everyone is unique, and I do not reduce individuals to a list of ‘issues.’ However, I have supported individuals navigating themes such as the following:
anxiety
bereavement
childhood trauma
cultural identity/ migration
depression
existential questioning
gender identity
intergenerational trauma
relationships/ family difficulties
sexuality
neurodiversity
